July 17th Speaker Series - Coexisting with Wildlife in Northern Italy: Exporting wildlife crossing structures and educational programs from the Bow Valley to Trento, Italy

Did you know that WildSmart is a program of the Biosphere Institute, a local charity? Our work relies entirely on donations and sponsors. If you would like to support our community-based efforts to promote human-wildlife coexistence, please donate!

Join Masters Student Francesco Del Greco at our next Speaker Series event Coexisting with Wildlife in Northern Italy: Exporting wildlife crossing structures and educational programs from the Bow Valley to Trento, Italy. The presentation will start at 7pm on Wednesday, July 17th at artsPlace in Canmore.

Francesco Del Greco, an environmental engineering student at the University of Trento, Italy, is spending three months in the Bow Valley for his masters degree thesis. He is here to study wildlife crossing structures, as well as learn from the WildSmart Program about educating residents and visitors how to coexist safely with wildlife. In the Trentino Alto Adige region (Northern Italy) where he lives, human-wildlife conflict is very common. Farmers, ranchers, residents and tourists are dealing with large populations of brown bear, wolf and ungulates. Francesco is working with local experts, WildSmart, Alberta Environment and Parks, Parks Canada and with the Province of Trento to find a solution, exporting wildlife crossing structures and educational programs from the Bow Valley to Trento.

This is a free event, however donations towards the WildSmart program are always very much appreciated.

We hope to see you there!

Special thanks goes out to our event sponsors, Lafarge Canada and the Rotary Club of Canmore for their generous support of our speaker series!
