Geoengineering considers dispersing particles into the Earth’s atmosphere to slow global warming. Dr. Keith will share his work around geoengineering and carbon removal, considering both climate science and environmental politics, and answer questions from attendees.

About the Presenter:
David Keith has worked near the interface between climate science, energy technology, and public
policy since 1990. Best known for his work on the science, technology, and public policy of solar
geoengineering, David has worked on diverse topics including economics of electricity
decarbonization, public perception of emerging technologies, and the climate impacts of wind
power. David is Professor of Geophysical Sciences and founding faculty director of the Climate
Systems Engineering initiative at University of Chicago. David founded of Carbon Engineering, a
Canadian company developing technology to capture CO 2 from ambient air.
What is Earth Talks?
Earth Talks is a new program coming to the CPL, in collaboration with the Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley, to bring you monthly environmental speakers and conversations relevant to our community.
On one Monday evening each month, we will be joined by Biosphere staff in the Friends Program Room at 7:00pm for an Earth Talk. Earth Talks will typically be held on the third Monday of the month, with a few exceptions.
Admission is free, with donations graciously accepted.
