The Biosphere went on a Science Odyssey!

From Friday, May 6, to Sunday, May 15 2016, The Biosphere Institute partnered with The Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council (NSERC) during Science Odyssey to promote science and technology to our local youth. We launched two NEW EduKits –  Water and Cougar –  funded by RBC Blue Water and the Banff Canmore Community Foundation respectively. The next Science Odyssey will be from Friday, May 12 to Sunday, May 21, 2017. If you would like us to visit your school, get in contact by calling 403-678-3445×0!

Water EduKit: These Water EduKit Demonstrations will engage students in their classroom to help them understand, protect and preserve our water systems.  The hands-on demonstrations and student-made movie screenings will facilitate classroom learning from a local to a global perspective.

Cougar EduKit:  Cougar EduKit Demonstrations will bring to life the ecology of this fascinating local feline.  Students in classroom settings will engage in hands-on activities with skulls, scat (replica!), pelts, tracks and claws to help better understand the science behind the cougar and its links to other local species

Sustainable Action Canmore Booklet

Have clients new to Canmore?
Help them feel more at home: Give them a Sustainable Action Canmore booklet. The Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley worked with local real estate professionals and the Town of Canmore, to provide answers to questions new home buyers frequently ask about Canmore resources. The booklet and associated webSustainabilityBrochureCover materials provide Canmore-specific information on Garbage, Recycling and Wildlife; Water; Transportation; and Energy. Hard copies and digital available.  Read more.
